The University Senate will host a town hall on gender-based misconduct and sexual assault, to continue the conversation begun in the town hall of March 13, bringing in undergraduate and graduate students from across Columbia. Panelists will include both University administrators and students. They will provide a brief update on the President’s Advisory Committee on Sexual Assault (PACSA) and the floor will then be open for discussion.

The Chazen Institute’s Global Leadership Matrix (GLeaM) Program invites you to join Arianna Huffington discuss how the ‘Third Metric’ relates to both current and future global leadership challenges. The event will be moderated by Sheena Iyengar, the Inaugural S.T. Lee Professor of Business at Columbia Business School, director of the Global Leadership Matrix (GLeaM), research director at the Jerome A. Chazen Institute of International Business, and author of “The Art of Choosing.” She received a PhD in social psychology from Stanford University (1997), a BS in economics from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania (1992), and a BA in psychology, minor in English from University of Pennsylvania (1992).

Arianna Huffington is the chair, president, and editor-in-chief of the Huffington Post Media Group, a nationally syndicated columnist, and author of fourteen books. In May 2005, she launched The Huffington Post, a news and blog site that quickly became one of the most widely read, linked to, and frequently cited media brands on the Internet. In 2012, the site won a Pulitzer Prize for national reporting. In 2013, she was named to the Forbes Most Powerful Women list. In 2006, and again in 2011, she was named to the Time 100, Time magazine’s list of the world’s 100 most influential people. Originally from Greece, she moved to England when she was 16 and graduated from Cambridge University with an MA in economics. At 21, she became president of the famed debating society, the Cambridge Union. She serves on several boards, including EL PAÍS, PRISA, the Center for Public Integrity, and the Committee to Protect Journalists.

This debate features four of the most notable figures engaged in and leading the dialogue on on-line education. Against the motion is Jonathan Cole, the John Mitchell Mason Professor of the University and Columbia’s former Provost and Dean of Faculties, and Rebecca Schuman, Columnist, Slate and Chronicle of Higher Education. You will receive your tickets for both events from the JSchool in early May.
